Debating buying a crowfoot flare nut wrench set

Do you need this set for anything on our cars? Im doing a power steering pump on Friday on my BMW and I know for a GM, its always good to have a set. But I borrowed someone's when I did p/s pumps on those cars. I came across a matco set practically brand new for a good price and I don't know if I need it or not.

Having a flare nut style would prevent them from slipping off. I just have a set of nice craftsman that work well.

they are great to have when you need them, but thats not very often. if the price is "great", and you aren't stretching your budget thin, go for it. you'll be super pissed later when you need them and don't have them.

Yea. Its only a 20 dollar difference over the Sears set which I like a lot. The sears ones I think are made by SK or were at least.

The way I see it, you can never have too many tools, even if a lot of them only get used a few times a year. Having the correct tool for the job makes the price well worth it.

That's the way I see it too. I picked them up. Unused set of Matco flare nut crow foots for 100 bucks. I broke my gearwrench t20 so now Im in the market for a s/o torx set.

I use crows foot wrenches and sockets to change out control arms. Works wonders on the passenger side control arm ball joint. Gives you just enough turning capability to get the nut on and off.

As mentioned before, having the correct tool for the job makes the money worth it. You wouldnt believe the job time savings with having the correct tool for the job. I went the longest time without a set of snap on wobble extensions and now I don't know how i ever did without them.

I think snap on has a torx set on special for December for the holidays. My guy comes in today. I'll let you know if they are on special and how much. Remember, LIFETIME TOOL REPLACEMENTS WARRANTY. I will spend that extra money just for that reason. I use my tools A LOT so I break things often. I've had tools pay for themselves 4 or 5 times now

So you are the guy rounding all the e30 brake lines? Shame on you! lol

You don't need them all for e30 but work wonders if you ever remove brake lines. Box end works fine for P/S since it's a banjo bolt.

Alright. I buy the Snapon heavy duty line of torx and hex bit sockets (they have a gold color coating) because they last twice as long.

Im talking flare nut CROW foot wrenches. I wouldn't use those on brake lines. flare nut wrenches make more sense for that.

Ah. Got confused when you said "flair nut wrench set" lol.

I only use the crow for o2 sensors and that pesky ball joint.

Nice. I was looking at mine the other day and thought of this thread. Had them forever and couldn't remember the brand, but it's also Matco.

Hey have you ever seen a 6mm swivel socket? I could use one for band clamps in tough areas. Also Im looking for a breaker bar like 15 - 18" long 3/8" for my belt ternsioner. Its hard to get at it with a 12" 3/8" ratchet.
