Front Air duct inner fender piece, What connects?

Installed new air duct inner fender pieces the other night. These were broken before I acquired the car and I can't figure out what connects to the two inside holes. I've browsed realoem till I went

    These two ^^

Seems like there must be something that holds that piece in on the inside there, but nothing I've got is close.
Rig's an IX if that matters.
This is not me but pretend you're helping this.

There is a tray that goes under the front of the car.

Looks like those are mounting points for the stock plastic "skidplate". I say this because I made my own skidplate and used a similar mounting point to secure mine. I'm not 100% sure on this so someone else please correct me if I'm wrong. Either way my car is missing these "front air duct inner fender pieces". How much do they cost?

Too bad shes washing an es model :p

Got a pic?, I'll keep looking around realoem. Is it a single tray or one for each side?

I don't think it's for the skidplate. I don't have that either but it wouldn't match up with the part shown on real oem anyways.

im pretty sure its the oem plastic dirt shield.

the oem skid plate is actually metal and called the aggregate plate.

This is what realoem shows for the skid plate.. I see no way that would attach to those holes.

Does that look like what an IX aggregate plate should be?

As far as I've ever been able to tell it is just a splash guard to keep water off the front of your engine/accessories

Guys, that part directs air through the radiator better, instead of allowing it to "wash" around it. It makes a significant difference in A/C efficiency.

Killer. Thank you for the picture, at least I know what I'm looking for now. Still can't find it on realoem but hey..
Copy that about directing airflow, though I'm more keen on keeping snow from ripping the air duct fender pieces off than keeping cool on our super hot summer days.
Know if this part is IX specific by chance?

Maybe this piece? It's hard to tell. Without scale I can't tell if this piece shown is 4 inches wide or 4 feet.

The part number is '51.71 - 1961.999.0' on the piece in my yard, obviously without quotes.

Thanks for the checking the part number.
Using that, I got a major score hit from r3v with pictures

This thread ^^ from 2007 appearently returned a result from the OP search on PP that showed the replacement part number for "51-71-1-961-999" as being "51-71-1-965-899" which is the number listed for the piece under heat insulation on roem for my IX despite PP not showing my car as an application. Meh, whatever

TY for ya'lls help. Now onto the wanted section :D

So you see what I mean about how it forces the air through, right? That with a proper fan shroud kicks ass...
