    running lean?

    hey guys i have a 89 325iC...m20
    i hooked up my car to a sun emission tester
    and i got some results
    and my afr was at 16.8-17.1
    i was wondering if that was way to lean
    and is there a way to get it around 13s afr

    i heard theres a special tool you can adjust your a/f with

    my car doesnt run as good as it used to either
    i would go WOT and the rpms would go up but it doesnt have the same push it had
    i changed oil and plugs....
    anything else be the problem

    Injectors? Could go with some 17.5lb e30 M3 injectors and an AFPR though neither are required.

    Have you checked to see if your car is throwing any codes?

              Bigger injectors are not the way to solve this problem!

              You may have a air leak around the inlet manifold.

                  Bet you it's the chip combined with the stock aging fuel system. It was in my case. Do what Rob said, put the stock chip and try again.

                      Make sure you have no intake leaks. The intake boot can hide a big leak.
                      Oxygen sensor. Needs replacing every fifty to seventy thousand miles, or as soon as it goes bad.This will throw your mixture off.
                      Temperature sensor. or wire. A bad one will make your ECU think your engine is cold. I always thought a 15 to 1 fuel mixture was optimum. Am I wrong?

                          Stoich is 14.7:1, but that isn't really the optimal A:F ratio. It depends on the application, but you want more like 13-14:1.
