Anybody know what these 3 plugs are?

I'm still sorting the b/s wiring the PO did to this car. Its like he undid every plug that was mounted to something. I'm putting everything back up where it goes, zip tieing everything back up. Came across 3 plugs that weren't plugged into anything. They are under the steering column/cluster area. Thoughts? Its a '90 325is 5speed. (I really need to start a project thread)

    Thanks!

the 2 black ones should go to your door chime and Id have to check on hthe blue wire but m thinking the plug right under your steering wheel. A wiring diagram would tell you for sure.

Well door chime is missing. Is it supposed to be on a panel that goes from the knee bolster to the firewall like the e36s? Mine is missing that panel if so.

Im going to take a stab at this. So the single wire connector (C-143) blue-brown is not used because you have a manual trans. Its for the cruse control /auto transmission range switch. (tape it to the cruse control harness). (C-1) red-green & brown-green is the ignition key /seat belt warning chime connector. Now the one in the middle should be the multifunction clock chime connector (C-2) red-white, brown & brown-blue (and /or brown-yellow in pin 2) Hope this helps.

So I just went a looked under my dash (since the lower dash is out while I sort out a bunch of electrical issues) and that blue\brown wire connects to a green\black wire which heads in to the firewall with a group of wires which I am guessing (since its raining) goes to the cruise control. I say that since its not a taped OEM type harness and CC was dealer or port installed in many cases (or all IDK)

Just because you have a 5spd does not mean you dont have a cruise\cancel switch. I had this discussion in a thread about starter lockout when you do a 5spd swap and the switch on your clutch pedal that looks like a brake light switch (and that I thought was the starter lockout for a 5spd) is actually a cruise cancel switch.

PS It was thejlevie who pointed that out. You can debate his opinions or AFAIK's but when he makes a statement, its quite bankable.

                  Just sayin' :-)

huh? the only US E30s that came with no CC were base model 318i's and perhaps some early etas. Any other E30 came with it standard. I can't imagine BMW would have had dealers install cruise control on hundreds of thousands of E30s outside the factory. :|

5-speeds definitely have a cruise cancel switch. it's a clutch switch.

If it was standard equipment I couldn't agree more. My "early 318" has CC which is almost certainly aftermarket. Back then it was common for dealers to install these...not saying BMW per se...but they were up sells just like vinyl tops <snicker>

The quality of the diagram sucks but it does show the blue\brown (as in OP) coming from the CC control to C143 which is a single wire connector under the dash. The diagram is from BMWoNA 89 Electrical Troubleshooting Manual so it's probably factory :p
