ID Help w Misc M20 Electric Connectors

I'm wondering what these these 2 connectors are for. The one next to the main fuse panel looks like its missing something but then BMW loves a good "bridge to nowhere".

..and why do some of my pics show up as thumbs ?

    Thanks

You have correctly labeled the first one. It is in fact the auxiliary fuse box. I have never seen any factory use of this box but many use it to add wiring for aftermarket stuff.

I cannot make out what the second photo depicts.

The second picture shows C101 under the intake manifold. Somebody added jumper wires instead of replacing the corroded pins in the correct manner. Gotta love amateurs.

        Thanks for the input.

Both the Bentley & the '89 Factory Electrical Manual say C101 should be mounted on the firewall near the fuse panel, but clearly that's it next to its mounting bracket (gotta love BMW too for moving stuff randomly). This splice "work around" doesnt seem to be causing any issues as the engine runs perfectly, but at some point I'd like to clean that up. I see references to C101 in various diagrams but am not finding 1 diagram that tells me where all of those wires go so if anyone has a Bentley pg # that would be appreciated.

Until I find that diagram I'm wondering (but doubtful) if this could have anything to do with my mysterious right turn signal buzzing that I'm trying to track down ?

Do you have the electrical troubleshooting manual for your car?

It may be available here: http://www.wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm

I do indeed as I cross checked the supposed location of C101 in both it and the Bentley as per the OP. Page 8500-8 shows a face pic with the terminals numbered but does not indicate where each terminal goes.

As I mentioned, there are a number of individual system diagrams that show a C101 connection but nothing I can find lists them all so if anyone has THAT pg # it would be most appreciated as Im not having any luck finding it.

C101's on the firewall. That pic is of...C191?... that lives under the intake and fails with
some regularity. Mark Lovitt says to get rid of it and do a good splice instead.

                I haven't yet.

Don't. While the very latest harness set for an M20 has separate injector connectors and a C191 connector, the older variety has a connector rail. If you splice out C191 the intake manifold cannot be removed without cutting the splices or pulling the intake and engine harness. If the C191 is bad, replace it.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Seriously, if It were me, and it is working fine as it is, I would just insulate the wires so they can't get any moisture in there and leave it. A lot of the issues you get from that connector come from the leaking coolant port on the throttle body. It drips coolant into that connector and gives you all sorts of random ass problems. If it works, don't touch it. Especially if its out of site.

With that being said... Whoever repaired it last was a hack. If he was going to do something like that, he could at least have the common courtesy to use solder and heat shrink.
