HAHA. in irvine? you bet your a** they will. :P

listen for something non-honda (they have CARB-legal kits) with a blow-off valve, and ask the driver where he gets smogged- a 6-pack in the passenger seat may help "slide" you through the visual part of the test- but MAKE SURE you run lean enough at a steady 3500rpm so you pass sniffer- in this state, the results of any smog test, pass or fail, are automatically transmitted to the DMV.

This is funny Tuners like Alpina and Hartge were putting numbers or over 205 with engines displacing 2.7 liters. It can be done, but if you buy all new parts to make a brand new engine yes it's going to be quite expensive.

Refreshing an M50 and slipping one into an E30 not expensive but the time involved with conversion is $$.

Cost to value ratio, well how long do you plan on keeping the car? So many variables, I think the M50 route is worth the money. But That's just my $.02

Unsure but They built some stout engines in many varieties. Having both good low end and top end. There have been many stout engines built, we just want to have a nice quick answer for our lack of power.

Quickest answer would be FI. Far cheaper than an engine swap.

all the built m20s i've driven were just like that, stout low end with a great pull up top. Unfortunately people are getting too caught up in peak numbers, which are all but useless...
