    dme question

    will an 173 dme work in an 87 325is that came with a 153 dme stock?


    i know 173 is best chippable ecu,

      No. all motronic 1.3 ECUs are the same as far as chips; 380, 525, etc. etc. it doesn't matter, but you won't easily find a chip for a 153.

        Depends on who you know :p

        The stock 153 spark table is more advanced than the 173 variants, but is much slower in processing.

          yeah but once you get a custom chip, who cares what the stock tune was :p

            No doubt. We have run the 153 on 10psi/Holset. The 173 didn't want to play nice with the engine harness that was trimmed of all but the necessities, yet the 153 worked perfect. Same thing happened in another car, the 173 variants wouldn't run properly and even the interface wouldn't work, so we stuck a 153 in that car as well (tuned of course).

              hey I have a friend here in Norfolk thats trying to sell a 153 dme with chip if you want it
              may you rest in peace, or pieces, whichever comes first
