For those of you with home garages (LOW CEILINGS) and work on your own cars, which lift would you further consider?

That is so sweet. Only thing that bums me about about the house I bought. 2 car garage, and low ceilings. Wish it was 3 and taller.

Not mine, but it's an acquaintance's from another board. One of the best lift setups I have seen for a low ceiling work space.

            Here's his Garage Build Thread.

Currently advising on a friend's garage build here in town and Bend Pak has been extremely helpful in getting the specifics to the guys doing the pour on the pad.

I thought this was a good idea, the folks in Japan work with tight spaces well.

On top of the usual coverage you have come to expect from Japan, you will be noticing a few more “behind the scenes” type posts this year as I try to give you a more in-depth look at some of the most well known names in the Japanese tuning world. Seeing where the cars we …

I have thought about modifying the rafters/roof supports - how hard is it to re-channel the garage door?

^ That's what I did, I've got an ~2800sqft. shop in town with a 300sqft office for 1/3 what I was paying for a 500sqft. studio apartment in Los Angeles County. I also live on just under 15 acres next to a river, with 10 neighbors on a mile long dead end country road. It's not for everyone, but it is wonderful.

I lived on 50 acres in my teens and at times in my 20s - loved it

                      but

my wife is the real bread winner (dr) and she will likely never live outside the DC beltway = so I have to make do

that is why a post lift would work for you - find the lines and make certain to drill elsewhere

Can't put a post lift in as the garage is also a part loading dock for the family business. Skids being moved around alot. It has to be flush to the ground or movable. I have pretty much accepted that there will never be a lift there.

One of the things I like about this low rise lift - it can be moved (supposedly fairly easily)

I only have a 1.5 car garage and I have recently moved everything not CAR related out - garden stuff to a new shed and anything else (non-flammable) to the very large laundry/storage area
