    My M30 gas milage...

I decided to see what the *best* MPG I could out of my m30 motor in my e30.

No so good! With mixed city highway driving I only got 16.9 MPG. That was with keeping the revs low, lots of coasting, and very, very easy accelarations.

This week, I'm going to see what the *worst* MPG I can get. I'll keep the same mixed city/highway driving that I do every week, But this time I'm going to rev the hell out of the fucker and goose it as often as I can. Anyone care to guess what I'll get?

    ...

George, I'd be interested to see what it gets on highway driving alone. 17 isn't bad around town, for a 3.5L.

              haha, yes it is...

shouldnt you be getting better mileage having that motor in a lighter chassis?

I was getting around 18-19 with mine in the E30, even when romping it, could get about 21-22 cruising on the interstate.

It's been decided that to get the best gas milage you should accelerate at about 3/4 throttle. Of course, if you're approaching a stopsign or stoplight, accelerating to a stop will naturally not help your gas milage.

                      I've never fallen below 21 ... yet.

                          With a M52B28 and a 4.10 rear, I've been getting 20 mpg consistantly.

If you track the M30, expect 10mpg

I dunno, I seem to average about the same mileage no matter how easy or hard I drive the car. I'm not that surprised that you got about the same driving it hard as you did driving it easy.
