    diff fluids

please post what fluid(s) you are using in your differential, and also maybe when you changed it, and at what mileage. I'm trying to figure out what to use in mine.

    thanks.

I run GM syn axle lube 75/90. Has all the nessary additivies for both lockers and lsd verry high shock resiastance + it smells like grape (sorta). If its good enough for the new vettes and the entire truck line its good enough for my 15 year old BMW.
    Changed it last week

BTW the shit is 24+ dollars a quart but its the best.

I've heard a reputable BMW mechanic tell me the same thing.

Where is the best place to buy that stuff?

Redline makes an excellent synthetic lube. You can get it at many independent sport shops. Their website has a "distributor in your area" tool. I run their 75W90 in both open and LSDs. They make a varient with lock up additives NS I think) but for street use it has been claimed to make the clutches too sticky so there can be some chatter in reverse and tight low speed turns.
            Let's go exploring!

Did a complete rear-end refresh and put RP in the diff. It hasn't blown up yet, so I guess that means it works.

How can you tell the difference anyways?

I am running Redline 75/90 with LSD Addiditve. Before, my diff was noisey and clicked a lot in parking lots. The diff is much quieter now and the LSD action is much better. This is in a 4.10 LSD by the way.

what additive do you guys recommend? Or does the Redline stuff already have the additive in it?

They sell it for LSD's with the additive in it already, which is what I bought.
