No a/c. Ambient temp sensor?

    No a/c. Ambient temp sensor?

    I just picked up a 1988 vert today. The a/c doesn't blow cold and I was wondering if it was possibly due to the ambient temp sensor? It displays -40 on the obc. Does this affect the ac on e30 cars?

      Nope.

      Make sure your compressor is turning, aux fan is on, then put gauges on it or just try to add some refrigerant and hope you get lucky.

          No. That is only on later BMW's with more integrated systems.
          The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

                  Yeah I think so. I'm really bummed about it needing fixed. A/c is something I know zero about and I hate paying people to work on my car.
                  I'm assuming an a/c check and service is my only option. Problem is... Places don't deal with r12

                      You've been offered some basic 1st steps. Why dont you try those, report back & go from there. Thats how you learn AND save $$.
