    Rollbar installation in 325i vert

As i havent heard much about such a modification, i was wondering if anybody knew about the procedure for getting a roll bar installed in an E30 vert.

Where would i have to go to get this done?

A roll bar in a vert would be a great solution to taking the inherent flex out of the frame.

My fabricator could do the job for you guys. Fully tig welded, excellent quality.

ezlnh8u, your close enough to have this done locally in SoCal. If a roll bar can be built for your vert then it could then be a template for others wanting the same solution.

Roll bars don't take the flex out of much, really, except the roof if you happen to try to
use it as the floor. Which, in a convertible, would probably knock your hat off...

True, my thought was not just a roll bar only but have down bars to the forward section, basically a 4 point cage/street roll bar setup, or 6 point if you took down bars to the back, but this would interfere with rear seating.

Street cars and roll bars/cages are always a compromise.

i don't know if a 6 point is reasonable with the roof compartment....

i pondered this, and even designed a harness bar, but eventually went with buying a $600 sedan to track. that has a much stiffer setup, and lighter too... imho, cabrios should not get cages unless they're the s2000's or miatas..if it comes in a sedan, get one.

again, just sayin...if you do it, i am still interested in how it comes out...i have seen a few cabrios out there with cages, (actually only online), and always interested in how they come out.

Have you guys seen pics of four seater convertible anything with roll bars before?

They look terrible! Go with a fixed roof for motorsports stuff, or a two seat vert.

Somehow, that should have been used in one of the Jurassic Park movies...

QFT. If you are going to drive a vert you should know its limitations.

A full cage on the street is a bad idea anyways.

I emailed you on Monday and again yesterday on your (gum) yahoo account.
Maybe on your other email ;)

Basically roll bars start at $270
We need to talk about the details of what you want.

I just did a bar for a guy on here. That bar came out to just over $400.
The rear down bars or plates are not pictured but I also did the rear shock tower braces and cross-member.
                          Check it out.
