bouncing fuel guage - already tightened nut behind it

I tightened the nut, but it seems worse now. What is the next step? I can tap the guage and the needle will become accurate, until the next bump. Do I need to resolder a connection? What is the usual fix? Thanks.

there is a 68 ohm resistor right next to the gauge, I'd resolder it and reflow the solder pads around the gauge itself.

Try that and if that does not fix it, it may be your fuel level sending unit.

Shouldn't the sender be ok since I can tap the guage cluster and make the needle bounce at will? I am hoping it is a resolder issue.

It was the resistor. I re-soldered and we are good to go. Thanks.
