Will this work?

I currently have the old ac system r12 but my pressure switch recently blew (top). I was only able to get my hands on the new switch r134 (bottom). Can I use this switch in my system?

Don't you have yo evac the system to change the pressure switch? Are you refilling with 12 or 134a?

I'm refilling the system with r12. The reason why my switch if currently off is because the pressure was too high and the switch blew. I just want to know if this new switch will work in my receiver/dryer.

If the pressure was high you may have other issues. Why not just convert to 134 while you're working on it?

Because I'm currently in the Bahamas and I don't have unlimited access to parts. The pressure was high because the person who refilled the system added too much pressure while he was doing so.

Event over filled, the high pressure switch should shut off the compressor before damage can occur. So it would seem like there may be other problems. I can't tell from the picture whether this was to low or high pressure switch. But the only safe thing would be to replace both with new parts, which it looks like are available from BMW.
