Eta to I fuel system swap

So I bought my most recent e30 ('86 325es) a few months ago and dropped in a completely rebuilt 2.7i engine I built a few weeks later. The previous owner took total shit care of it so the electronics, fuel pumps, engine were all crap - I replaced all of it.

Now I'm having what appears to be a fuel starvation issue and I have no idea how this is possible since literally everything is brand new. The "starvation" happens primarily at half a tank & below but it also happens with a full tank on extended drives of 20+ miles. The car idles fine and runs a little rich because I have the 02 sensor disconnected (haven't put on the i exhaust yet).

I'm considering swapping the entire fuel system from an eta to an i setup. The car will get a brand new stroker/turbo motor next fall including an upgraded fuel pump so I might as well start now (also why I'm skipping over the accumulator option).

    My questions are:
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Will there be an electrical issue with the i fuel pump? (aka not enough voltage/wattage")
Would an i gas tank be required?

could just be a bad fuel pump! otherwise I believe that the 325e and i fuel pumps are the same.

early model and late model pumps are different though.

Kinda sounds like your in- tank pump's not working.

Put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see if it's holding pressure!

The tanks are the same... you DID use an i regulator, of course.

Also check the tank for rust. Sloshing fuel can stir up the rust and the suction of the pump can cause it to collect on the inlet screen and choke off flow.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
