Would you put a Napa fuel pump in your E30?

Napa carries a replacement fuel pump for my '91 (the in-tank pump), made by Carter. Any reason not to use a Napa part? There's an O'Reilly's nearby too, and they have a Walbro. Thoughts?

I've used an Advance in-tank high pressure pump, don't remember the brand. The pump worked fine but a few race weekends later the locking ring separated from the flange. Poor spotwelds.

Fortunately the problem turned out not to be the pump. Even though that was what it looked like at the time. The cause was a bad engine harness, so I was able to the original pump back in after I replaced the harness (the fourth used harness I've gone through in the last 5 years on the race car). Enough was enough and now the car has a brand new harness.

The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I work for Advance and don't trust our stuff at all. All our clutch hydraulics and fuel pumps are made in China. Those are pretty critical parts, so unless you can get name-brand through an auto parts store (like the Walbro you said), don't do it.

Car Quest had OEM bosch pumps with Car Quest logo on the box. Has been going strong for a few years and was cheaper than I could find around for original replacement.

quite often Napa parts will be either real BMW or BMW OE parts. in all likelyness it's a Siemens/VDO pump in a Napa box.

            definitely not junk from O'Reilly's.

i cannibalized a pump from a GM uplander van over a year ago. works like a charm..

but you get what you paiy for. Buy the best you can afford.. just not from China.

I've been running a "Carter" brand pump in my car for 4 years without any issues. At the time, it was in a bind, and it was the only pump available locally. It came with a 1yr warranty. For $80 bucks i think ive gotten my money worth.

When i was putting my E30 back together i dealr with a local Euro parts place i have known for years. Id ask him for oem ignition wires and the guy would give me some box that said strange things like 'minesota ignition controls' but the box would have a set of OEM Bocsh ignition wires.

Which ever you choose dont use a TREpump. Lasted maybe 2 years-10000 miles. Then when i started to DD my car, pump would run but would produce no fuel pressure.
