    Odometer/trip meter not working

So I am finally driving my E30 24v setup (working great) and put about 20 - 30 miles on it over the weekend. Realized that the odometer isn't turning. I drove again today to work and the trip meter (which I reset) read .2 miles but I drove an easy 15 miles. It read .2 miles for like... the entire duration so at some point something moved but obviously not reliably.

Is it most likely gears? Anyone have any advice before I tear it apart?

If it is not turning then either the motor is dead or the gears are broken. You have no choice but to take it out for a look.

VDO or Multimeter? Most likely it's the gears. We have Multimeter gears and with your skills it would be an easy fix.

            Cheers,

Most likely gears but I just replaced an odometer electrical motor too. If you need help replacing the motor, send me a message.

I have a similar problem. I just replaced my gears for my motometer type setup. however it still does not work after putting it back together. I obviously need to take it back apart, is it common for the motors to actually go out? and if so, are they fairly easy to replace?

Not easy, complete disassembly required. Installation or manufacturing error are common.

I can run a odometer on my work bench so i know it will work for sure.

So, I should double check my gears before anything else? and It couldnt be something easy, like a relay or fuse right?

Nope, odometer and speedo are on same gear. If both don't work, its probably a fuse. If one or the other do not work, something is wrong with those gauges or cluster main board.

The odometer and speedo are not on the same gear but on the same signal circuit.

                            Just check the gears again
