    M20 = Dead ( Did I kill it? )

    So while doing some spirited driving today, I am pretty sure my engine is toast.

    I have a few theories with what is wrong.

    Spun a Bearing.
    Blown Clutch.
    Blown Rocker.
    (Possible Tranny? would the car turn over if the tranny was blown? also the car still goes into every gear fine)

    The Story - Dropped clutch @ around 5k and it grabbed, went threw 1st and 2nd gear WOT then..... BANG in the middle of shifting to 3rd! After the loud bang the engine stopped immediately and rolled to a stop.

    There was NO oil or coolant as signs of throwing a rod.

    When I turn the key to try and start I hear a grinding noise and the FAN spins nothing else....

    Where should I start? anybody ever kill there e30 like this?

    Thanks In advance, I searched for about 2 hours and could not find anything. sorry if this has been covered already.

    Have someone turn the key, you listen for where the grinding is coming from. That's probably what I'd try

      If the trans was messed up or the clutch the car should still start. It sounds like something internal in the motor. Drain the oil and see if there is metal in it.

          Also take the cam cover off the head and check out the rockers. I dont think its them, but if it is you will see pieces of rocker in there.
