i see so many people doing 24v swaps most that i see to an M engine. Well im curious, ive seen a pic of a guy who cut out the E30 cluster to fit a E46 cluster inside the e30 one. Is that really possible or was that just some photoshopped bs? Just a thought is all and i cant seem to find an answer to my question via google search or forum search.

Now that's beautiful. I wonder if that made that swap easier or more difficult? I almost wonder if you could do some creative wiring to get that cluster to work with m20, m30, m42, and other 24v swaps. Using the e46 cluster that is.Last edited by Bimmer_man; 07-13-2013, 03:03 PM.Float like a cadillac sting like a Bimmer!:)

You need an e46 dme.. much of the cluster is run over CAN. Also the e30 gas sender and light switch is not directly compatible.
For a regular 24v swap, an e46 cluster makes no sense..Comment

I think all the control modules from the e 46 must be retained in order for the cluster to work without cel, abs, and other error indicators. It would be like putting an e30 shell on an e46 chassis.Owner - Bavarian Restoration
