    Motorized Rear Coupe Windows

I know that I've seen a thread about installing motorized rear coupe windows, but I didn't find it and don't feel like looking too hard. Basically I can't reach the mechanism to open/latch shut the rear windows when I'm driving. You know, start on a long drive an the wind noise is too much at 80+ on the highway. Or want to have them open but know that it may rain, and then it does.

Here's my train of thought, and tell me if I'm crazy:

    1) Take the power from the battery in the trunk and for a SPST relay with an inline fuse

2)this allows power to the 12V switched wire in the auxiliary fuse box

3)12V switched goes through the window button to an opener from a van/newer BMW

4)fabricate a bracket so opener screws to the stock holes

5)do something so the opener doesn't look janky

Has this been done before? Any pictures or insight?

I believe I've seen this on an E36 coupe, possible a Euro option? Might be a good place to start.

Convert to non-popout windows. Problem solved.

Either that or accelerate up to about 100mph. They will slam shut at that speed.

It's been attempted. And last I saw someone, on s14.net was able to do it because of the M3's larger C pillar. However, it still wasn't pretty...

As NitroRustlerDriver mentioned, convert to non-popouts

Well, I actually converted my solid state windows to popouts. I like the air flow and the look.

So I guess I'm gonna do it and I'll let you guys know how it works out.

This is something I've thought about, and am amazed that there if nothing readily available from the typical aftermarket sources. I have seen people retrofit the pieces from later BMW coupes, but the parts are either expensive new, or hard to come by used.

I have thought about scavenging parts from a van, but haven't taken the time to track down the parts.
