Hey guys.
Have a bit of a strange problem with my 86 325i (yes it's real, it's been imported from the UK) which I am fairly sure is the ECU. It runs euro Motronic 1.0 (no cat, no o2 sensor, no crank trigger wheel etc) so finding much info is pretty hard, as it's pretty rare.
Basically what happens is it drives fine for a while (a few days to a week) and then I will start to notice it occasionally hesitating at ~5000 RPM. After the first time I notice it, it then gets progressively more frequent, and hesitates at lower RPMS. If I keep driving it it will continue getting worse, to the point that it is nearly impossible to drive, and I have to pull over on the side of the road to reset the ecu. If I disconnect the battery and reset the ECU though, it is fine again for maybe a week and then starts the same thing over again.
I plan on putting it on MS soon, so if that will fix it (assuming it is the ECU at fault) it's not a big deal, is easy enough to live with until then. I'm just wondering why it's doing this and if anyone else has experienced anything similar?
