I've done some searching, and tons of brainstorming.
I have a couple ideas, but the time I need to get them done will be lacking in the coming week. I tried out my ideas with some aluminum sheet metal tonight, but this shit is weak, and won't hold a damn thing. I'm gonna pick up some thicker metal tomorrow, and try out my ideas again.
I purchased an Optima Red Top battery, the 34 model, with 800 CCA. This battery is shorter and a bit taller than the normal sized battery for our cars. At the same time, there's no lip on short sides of the battery, so I need to figure out a way to mount the battery securely, since the original bracket will not work.
I've thought of a couple ways, including cuting put metal, and screwing it in a certain way into the plastic battery holder to hold the battery tight. I've considered bungie cables, but these will most definately not pass tech at a race track.
So, I need some good ideas on a good secure way to mount this battery and still pass tech at driving schools.
And, before anyone suggests it, there is NOT enough room to use one of those top mounts. There is no room on the left side of the battery for anything, unless it's down below, near the 3 rounded cells on that one side.
Thanks!
