    Holy s***. Got my problems figured out. Can't believe what it was: the timing belt tensioner was missing the retention bolt. The timing belt was literally flapping around and creating my rough idle problems. A third of the timing belt was missing. Teeth were intact but the width of it wasn't.

    Couldn't have been a better idea to take it in, even if it did run me close to $1100. Would've lost an engine pretty quick if I hadn't.

      Wow, it's a small miracle you didn't lose your valve train.

          This included diagnostic time for a bunch of other stuff as well. I'd rather that than a new engine.

            Holy shit... did the shop you took it to find the bolt? Small miracle it didn't self paperweight a while ago.

              Yep, the bolt was just hanging out in the timing cover. You should see the belt they pulled out, I'm surprised it didn't snap before I had them look at it.
