    turbo in an Eta?

has any one done a turbo set up with a Eta engine?
also is there a reason why you should not to run a turbo in a stock eta(maybe with the MAF conversion)

    Thanks

one problem : single valve springs.

the low redline and restrictive head/intake don't help much either.

a euro 323i top end might do it for you... but its cheaper to pic up a used m20b25.

Ok i guess im gonna start searching for a m20b25 then  , what is needed for the m20b25 conversion except for the engine, whiring harness, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, is the computer(ECU also needed?)

Yes. You need the long block, computer, and everything that the wiring harness plugs into (O2 sensor, TPS, AFM, ICV, crank sensor, electronic purge valve, fuel injectors, etc etc).

Why not turbo an eta? Add the double valve springs and you should be fine. Select the correct size turbo to accomodate the cam and the amount of revs. If you can turbo a Briggs&Stratton lawnmower engine, you can surely turbo an eta.

Odd that you don't hear m42'ers criticize m10 turbos.

what would be easier/cheaper to do; the E to I swap or the full m20b25 engine conversion (btw this is my daily driver and i plan on doing the turbo set up also)
                Thanks

Edit: "O2 sensor, TPS, AFM, ICV, crank sensor, electronic purge valve, fuel injectors" most of this stuff already comes with the engine so there shouldnt be much modifications need

thats because m10s made a lot of power in old race motors, ETAs didnt AFAIK...

AND it costs about $200 to replace the whole M10 engine in case you blow it up turboing the shit out of it.

                      rofl... onthe m10 $200 thing

you'll basically want to swap in a super-eta motor since that's a good stock starting point for turbo if you're on the cheap... it's got the i head and 2.7 crank already. you just want to lower the compression a bit and you'll be good to go for low low boost...

I'm building a FI 2.8l... details once I get all my parts and the piping planned out.

Don't Super Eta's already have a 8.5:1 compression ratio? That'd be perfect for lower boost situations. Even the 8.8:1 in stock 'i' engines is a pretty good starting point for low boost. The 9.0:1 'e' engines are pushing it though.

make a 2.7i engine & keep the 325i pistons... it'll be pretty low compression, then you can turbo the fuck out of it
