    Windshield wiper apocalypse!!

    Hey guys my good buddy has a '92 mtech II vert, and his drivers side windshield wiper has stopped working.. it appears to be "stripped" at its pivot point(at the base) or something.. any help is appreciated

    junkyard and get the necessary parts on the cheap but its a little hard to tell what you mean without pictures, OR just be a boss and go monowiper.

      i take it you mean the splined section on the post for the wiper. Only way to tell if the wiper arm or the post is stripped is to take the wiper off and have a look at the splines on the post.

      Ive seen people just mash the arm on and tighten it down without even thinking there are splines inside to match up, damages the wiper arm. If the splines on the post are damaged you'll most likely have to replace it.

        The wiper arm is aluminum and the wiper drive shaft is stainless so the arm strips and not the shaft. The down side is that finding a used arm with good splines takes some luck and new ones are $35-40

          You can also put a small strip of soft metal (copper or aluminum) between the arm and the shaft to create a tighter fit.
