This pic is driving me nuts. Pls Help.

Car is at the mechanics (1989 325is 5spd). The car was dropped off there because it refused to go into gear (it's manual). The slave, master and clutch were all replaced yet the problem still persists. BMW claims the black bracket in the picture (I believe the one with the yellow mark on it to the left) has a hairline crack in the weld and will not allow the clutch to fully engage. Is this making sense?

    Solutions?

no, because the thing with yellow on it's the brake pedal, not the clutch...

While i agree that the picture is of a brake pedal, not the clutch, having a crack in the pedal box bracket that causes the clutch to not disengage isn't unheard of.

You couls possibly have it welded but doing it inside the car isn't ideal. You can replace the whole pedal box but that is difficult if you have an airbag car.

Does the pedal box have a part number? It comes with the bracket? My car doesn't have an airbag.

all you need to do then is swap the pedal box from a non-airbag 5-speed car.

          yes it has a part #, I don't think it's NLA. check realoem.com etc..

the other alternative since we can't see the clutch pedal is the clutch pedal is cracked, in which case you'd swap in the pedal from a non-airbag car.

Guys thanks for all the help. After the pedal box was replaced and extra reinforcement added everything feels good again. The car now has a new clutch, slave, master and pedal box.
