Good to know, I'll remove it with great joy.
The work on microwaves. That center console is the correct location, BTW.

That is the type of sensor that sets off the alarm is someone gets too close...or a leaf blows in an open window, or a bird flies too close or it rains to hard.

Feel good knowing that you have removed a major cause of false alarms!

    Closing SOON!

Haha, thanks for the info but the bugger didn't even work =) Maybe that's one of the sources that were draining the battery - Imo this is hooked up to the same circuit as the radio etc. Think it was fuse 21 or 27 when I was checking for a drain.

Getting the new valve tomorrow hopefully.

BTW, thank you very much for all the info =) You're a great help! =)

Got the new OEM pump, cleaned everything out and prepared the car.
I took the core and rinsed it with vinegar to get whatever gunk was stashed in there out. Core doesn't leak, so I've reapplied some foam on it to seal better.

After installing the pump, I checked the coolant level - I think where the notch is - is the correct level.

Started the car, let it sit a bit at idle - by some weird circumstance my idling problem was not present anymore (?!?!?). A bit perplexed I revved the car to 2k and held it there for about 30s. The vent was at full blast, set to warm. We had warm air coming out of the vents.

        20 seconds later this happened:

I was intentionally checking for this exact leak because thats exactly what happened to the previous pump.

This is the old pump that came with the car (possibly first one), it was in pretty shitty shape:

I'm getting a new one tomorrow, but if this doesn't work Im thinking of either looping the bastard and call it a day, or take the pump apart and seal it properly myself. :hitler:

If anyone has a better idea please, help =)

Nobody? Can somebody tell me if the coolant level is ok? Is there any way I could cock it up and cause the valve to leak like that?

            Your coolant level is fine

I've never had a valve leak like that, especially a new one

I guess I'm lucky =D However, the replacement of the new oem part arrived and I took the time to install it again. Its not leaking and the heating works too - so I got that going for me, which is nice =)

A new oem part is under warranty by bmw for both the part and the install, tell them to pay for putting another one in.

I replaced the water valve on two of my cars. One was fine but the other leaked just like yours. I was in a pinch so took it apart to find the o-ring improperly installed. It wasn't cut so I lubed it with some dielectric grease and put it together. For what we're paying for this thing I would expect better QC.

IKR? The part is like $220. @SmokeE30 I took the car apart in the garage space under the apartment building - I was already annoyed so I did it myself and the old one was barfing coolant all the time, so moving was not really an option =)

Not to mention I ordered them in January when I needed heat, they were on national backorder and I didn't get them until June.
