    Central locking woes

Alright, so my central locking isn't working and was hoping I could get some help here. I'll try and lay out the line of events as simply as I can.

    1. Central locking working perfectly on a E30 318i sedan. Central locking activates from drivers door or boot.
    2. One day, drivers door actuator is stuck. Can't physically lock or unlock. Took apart door panel and removed actuator. After banging it a bit, it starts to seemingly work again. Reinstalled in the door.
    3. Soon after, the actuator in the passenger front door is stuck too. Repeat same procedure.
    4. At this point, the central locking stops working.

    Things I have done:

    - Checked fuses
    - Cleaned door plug with contact cleaner
    - Red/black loop eliminated (this was already done, didn't change this)
    - Replaced control module (in the speaker bay)
    - Replaced drivers door actuator

    Nothing has worked.

    Symptoms:
    - Central locking doesn't work at all now.
    - When I lock or unlock the drivers door, I can hear relays clicking in the control module. But nothing happens.
    - Occasionally, I'll hear some whirring from the back (maybe the petrol lock actuator) when I lock/unlock the drivers door.

I'm suspecting wiring or something. The electrical reference guide mentions a test I can do by shorting wires on the control module plug, but I don't quite understand how to do it. Would really appreciate if someone could explain that to me.

    Thanks!

These things have a mind of their own, and it is difficult to actually get working well. Most seem to get lucky, I don't see to many that actually get fixed. GL, I have the same issues, just have not begun to look at all that is going on

what is an "electrical reference guide?"

have you downloaded your ETM and gone thru the diagnostic help pages after the wiring diagrams for the central locking? its a good step by step diagnostic guide for the system

sounds like if the relays are clicking in the module the signal is getting from the switches to the module ,so it must be the wiring out to the lock motors or the motors themselves ,you can test them with a test light at the motor two pin connectors...

There's a thermal fuse in the module that desolders itself which could have been caused by your sticky actuator. If that does turn out to be your problem DO NOT use regular solder but rather low temp. I fried my entire locking system but missing this point.
