    Stomp test not working?

I recently got a CEL and decided to just now do a stomp test.

I think I've tried about 15 times and it's still not giving me codes,
what could be the problem here ?

I also upgraded to a 173 ECU if this helps.

Make sure that there is continuity between pins 2 and 3 on the throttle position switch when the gas pedal is pushed to the floor. Pin 2 is the middle one, if you can't determine which one is pin 3 just try both of the other pins to see if either gives you continuity.

Your TPS must be functional for the stomp test to work.

        ^^^

This. If the throttle position sensor is not working properly or not adjusted properly, the ECU won't be able to enter the stomp test mode.

Both sides of the switch (closed throttle and wide open throttle) have to be working.

IF the TPS is malfunctioning, you can turn on the key and short the WOT wire to the center pin 5x (just like you would when testing the switch, but use a paperclip/wire etc).

Okay, I found continuity at closed throttle.
But there is no continuity at full throttle.

Does this mean I need to replace the TPS?

I was also told that it needs to be done within the first 5 seconds of putting the key in the ON position.

Tried this and I did not get continuity at full throttle .
Only got continuity with the throttle closed

Not necessarily. The switch could just be out of adjustment. The Bentley manual covers adjustment of the switch. I have always found it easier to just remove the throttle body and do it on the bench rather than try to muck with the TPS mounting screws with the throttle body in place.

If you do remove the throttle body, best to have a new gasket to install it back onto the intake manifold. Vacuum leaks suck (literally).

If your throttle cable has too much slack in it, it won't open the throttle body all the way. Check that as well.

This issue drove me crazy...my TPS was adjusted properly and I had the 173 ECU; still no stomp test no matter how many times I tried.
I checked with a meter for continuity at the connector going to the ECU...the correct pins would short out at idle and WOT.

I had to replace my ECU for trouble shooting an idle issue and received a different 173 ECU from ebay (I believe a later serial number)...stomp test works just fine now.
