    Hello!

I need to swap out my cluster for a different one since the board seems to be done for. I'm running a 1987 pre-facelift 320i, so I need a 6 cyl cluster.
Do you guys know what the visual differences are? I heard that there may be visual differences in fuel and max kph, but I'm not sure what the actual numbers are and what they show. Are all 6 cyl clusters 240kmh, or are some 220?

You can replace just the PCB if it's bad.

The later PCB can be identified by missing only 1 pin in the bottom connector.
You can open your cluster and compare the board before buying.

Thanks for the heads up! That could be useful, but the problem is that most of the sellers in my area don't want to sell the PCB on its own. Any idea about the differences themselves?

km speedometers are the same for later cars.
Tachometers are different for 5000 and 7000 rpm cars. You can notice differences immediately.
Fuel gauges are 55 and 60 l. You can notice differences easily.

Of course, US versions with miles are different.

Later clusters all have code plugs in front.
You can buy a cluster for a 4-cylinder 7000 rpm car and insert your coder.

Broken tabs and scratched glass covers may lower prices significantly.

Check SI boards. The latest ones with Sanyo batteries are the best. Others can have traces of acid.
