    Fan WAYYYY too loud!

When my old mechanic installed my engine he told me that it didn't have a fan clutch cause those engines didn't bring one from factory -_-. So now my car sounds like a school bus whenever I'm over 2500 RPM. The fan spins however fast the belt spins. I'm not sure exactly what I'm missing to make the car sound normal again? Is it just this http://g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1AxLjH...-318i-325i.jpg

So the engine has a fan and fan clutch installed or not? The absence of a fan will not make the engine sound like a truck.

It sounds like his engine has a fan, but not the fan clutch. The easiest solution is to get the right fan/fan clutch installed.

Ive got a fan and I'm assuming no fan clutch. so just a fan clutch should solve my problem, correct?

Take a peek in there. The fan clutch is easy to spot if you have it.

OP the fan clutch looks just like the one in your picture. It's inside the fan and you can see it easily

It's definitely there, but then why does the fan spin as fast as the belt?

With the engine off, try spinning the fan by hand. It should turn easily. If it doesn't, your clutch is bad and locked up. It should only lock up when hot.

How do you attach a fan without the clutch??? Did he fabricate an insert?

I guess I'll try to get a new fan clutch, and it did come with it but I just didn't take a good look at it 😅 haha oops

Remember they are left hand threads.

The default failure of a fan clutch is to spin freely since they are a viscous clutch. I've never heard of one seizing.
