    MC swap question

With the pedal sinking slowly to the floor I bought a new ate mc. Did a bench bleed and now find that although the brakes work ok the pedal does not grab til it gets quite low. I would suspect air but pumping it doesn't make a difference.

    1) is this a typical bleed issue from a new mc
    2) if I bleed it from the calipers do I risk getting air trapped in the abs unit
    3) do I just need to adjust the pushrod

    Thanks for the input.

    I would do

and then go out and get into ABS a few times, and do it again.

You shouldn't get air in the ABS if bleed the calipers properly, but it's
pretty likely you could get a bit from changing the MC.

One of these years, I'm going to figure out how to manually activate all of the ABS stuff...
...for now, I just use a dirt road.

If nothing changes at all, then look at how much free play is left in the linkage,
and if it seems like a lot,
    THEN
do #3. But it shouldn't change much if you matched them before you mounted the new one.

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

      If I matched what ?

Are you saying there is an adjustment on the mc cause I've not read that anywhere.

I had a hell of a time getting a decent pedal on the MC / booster I just installed. Acquire a LOT of paper towels and rags before trying my suggestion below ...

        What I did:

        1) Bench bleed the MC.
        2) Install MC. Bleed the lines where they attach to the MC.
        3) Crack open the lines at the ABS unit and bleed there too.
        4) Then on to the calipers. I think I did three rounds of caliper bleeding in total.

I used the two person bleeding method. I have a pressure bleeder but it wasn't doing what I needed it to do.

There's no adjustment of the MC that I know of. I did have to adjust the linkage at the brake pedal since the booster was replaced.

That's pretty much what I did. bench bled, cracked the lines at the abs which helped a little but in the end, the pressure bleeder solved it.
