    water pump removal and install

can someone sum up a removol and install of a water pump for a 86 325 for me? in my mind im just assuming i just have to remove the radiator, remove the fan, and then take out the water pump and put a new one in. let me know if im missing something or i got it wrong. i know the fan cluth requires a 32mm(i think) wrench to remove, will i need a specialty wrench, like a fan clutch wrench to remove it or will a regular one fit?

              No serpentine belt in E30.

Timing belt must be done at same time - which is why they are usually done in conjunction.

question that is somewhat on topic here...

when removing the distributor rotor, the allen key size, what is it? I used on in there and the screw was in there pretty hard, and it got stripped.

actually, you can do the waterpump without doing the timing belt, but it's maybe 10 minutes more work, and $35 in parts, so you may as well do both at the same time. whatever you do don't put in an old timing belt!

can i just slip off the old timing belt and slip on a new one and just make sure the crank and cam gears dont move or do i have to put #1 cylinder in TDC and line up everything before removing and installing the new one?

Make damn sure its on TDC when you pull off the timing belt... and when putting on the new one... make damn sure its on TDC on both the top and bottom. This mistake probably cost me around 4k :-p
