    Extremely disturbing noise...help

    God day guys,

Today i heard this noise for the 2nd time. It sounded like when there's a dried-up leave stuck up in the wheel well or say of you drove over some dry leaves. only thing there was none to be seen on the orad when i looked back !!

    - I was accelerating kind hard, not full-throttle from a stanstill..

    - Backed off the gas one time, jumped out the car to inspect the underside for something loose looking immediately..

-Drove home in the highway with no weird vibrations or whaever there after.

    I don't have a clue

In other news..my speedo is not working hmm blown fuse???

could be a pebbele under a heatshield, could flex witha weak motor mount. Try and repeat what you were doing when it happened, it needs fixing anyway, right?

            hmmm...

@Del...not a tapping sound. I only got up to 35mph cause I was gonna park anyway.

@Moatilliata.. I really wonder, will have to check the trim later. Was the only one on the street at the time.

            @Stereoinstaller... Here's what happened.->

I made a U-turn and was gonna park; accelerated in 1st gear bout 2/4 throttle. Started hearing that ""crackle", took my foot of the accelerator immediately & looked back in the rear-view mirror and noticed nothing like a leaf.

could flex witha weak motor mount
care to elaborate some more.. thnx

Sure. You know what the motor mounts look like, right? A small (2 1/2") barrel of rubber, with flat, circular metal plates on each end, with studs sticking out. One of mine looked fine, but when I jacked the motor up to replace the other one (which was ripped in half, and is the reason no one in town has a E30 lower radiator hose) it seperated completely. One of the metal plates delaminated.

If one or both of your mounts are getting flaky, the motor can shift around quite a bit.

Not quite sure how that would make a crackling sound, but free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it, right? Just something easy to check.

The window trim thing sounds more likely to me.

                          Keep hunting!
