Ahh! I need a new muffler..

I have an ANSA. It has been on the car for 3 years almost and it is already rusting. I would just be cheap and get the dynomax like Bill did. It sounds really good and it won't cost you alot.

I have a Dynomax super turbo on my cabrio, but not for that long. Its certainly louder than stock, as its pretty much straight through. They don't make one to fit the E30, so you have to go universal and then make plenty of mod's to get the pipes to fit the muffler. You also have to get some bending done to get the pipes at the right angle. You''ll need some tips too. Oh yeah, you can't use the OEM hanger setup, so you'll have to customize that too..

See where I'm going with this? Whatever you get, go catback. Ansa won't last, but the price is right. For my $, I'd get the Ireland Engineering cat back. Period.

It was no engine rebuild, but it was more work than it was worth if you ask me. I was just trying to keep my costs down and didn't want to spend $700 on a Triflow. I think it falls under the "live and learn" category.

You had mentioned earlier, you did not want to go crazy in paying too much for a new muffler. Go with the OEM BOSAL or ANSA.

For $ 100 shipped, the BOSAL is a good exhaust that will bolt-on catback, you don't need to worry about going to a shop, farbicating stuff. In the end, you would've spent about at least $150 with the labor and piping.

Then just get a good tip either single or single to dual.

I don't understand.

I spent $125 on my setup. It takes about an hour for a shop to bend/weld one pipe. They'll have whatever it takes to make a 'custom hanger' (whoop dee doo). How is this 'complicated?' Muffler shops do this all day long. If you are concerned with getting whacked for the installation, just ask for a ballpark beforehand.

Ireland doesn't make a stainless system for 318i's.

It does drone a bit below 3k, and that can get kind of annoying if you're in a bad mood. I'd hate to think I'm bothering people too.

For 15-20 dollars more than the oem, I can get the SPORT Ansa muffler. Worth it?
I would think so, but I could be wrong.

the ansa are known for rusting to peices. honestly i'd either go custom or OEM.. actually, I'd probably fork over the cash for a nice stainles steel exhaust that will last a long time. my supersprint is about 5 years old and it's like new.

Let's say you went with ANSA performance for $ 140. It lasts you 3 years. That ain't bad.

Even if you had to buy another ANSA again, that's 6 years and still costs less ($ 280)than other exhaust like Supersprint, TriFlo, etc. which runs for about $ 500 and up.

Or OEM Borla, you can buy 3 of them for $ 300. You think you's still be driving that car in 10 years?

Supersprints for 318i's are a LOT cheaper than other cars! catalog.custom3.com sells the muffler for $280 and then the connecting pipe is probably another $40-60. Not a bad deal at all for a full stainless exhaust of Supersprint quality.

Personally, I don't mind putting on a new exhaust every three years - gives me the opportunity to try new things.

I will forever stay away from Ansa's though.
