    Driver's side carpet soaked

    Need some help here r3v...
After getting my car back know from the shop that completed my m52 swap, I have had to deal with major water leaks on my drivers side. I have checked the basics still not seeing where it is coming in.

It is for sure water and not coolant.
Tested sunroof drains and while it took it a little, it did drain through the rockers.
Checked the bulkhead and floors for rust and nothing was found.
    Passenger side is completely dry.
Unable to check elephant trunk due to the engine, but it drained quickly.

I'm truly at a loss here. My carpet is ruined and I have no idea where to look next. Can anyone suggest where I should look next? Huge thanks in advance....

Your carpet is not ruined, just let it dry. It'll be fine.

If it took awhile to drain through the rockers, maybe it got backed up over time and overflowed? It would take awhile for you to notice, you'd have to pour quite a few gallons in before it soaked through the carpet. It's pretty thick.

Check your elephant trunk and although it's not AC season check the evaporator drains as well. If it's not coolant or a sunroof then those are the only 2 options I'm aware of

Just hope it isn't the seal between the heater box and firewall, I've done 5 of those in the last 10 months, they are a pain in the ass

+1 on heater box seal. Mine is gone as well. Also if your windshield seal is old and dry water could be coming through that

Pull carpet and let it dry. Dust the inside of the car with flour or something similar, and just wait.

My 88 325is has the same problem, but has about 5 leaks throughout the car including the trunk. I am going to pull the carpet one of these weekends to let it dry.

anybody able to slide the carpet out from under the heater box without cutting it? I cut the carpet on my slut beater 4 door but this '88 is super nice and I would like to avoid it if possible.

Dust the car with flour? What...

I have some rubber winter floor mats and they are pretty good at identifying water leaks. Then again so is getting your head under the dash during a rain storm...

I did just have a new fan put in as the old one sounded as if it was going to explode...different seal I imagine?

We did just have massive rains in NC. I will also look into this

Going to be pulling mine as well. I will try the flour trick if I can ever finish drying my floor board.

Also, the carpet isn't showing leaks. The padding underneath the carpet is full of water. It's not showing me where any potential leaks are coming from. The entire drivers side up to the front seat is soaked.

Side note: none of this happened before I swapped my engine......

Look in realoem, its the big square one between the heater box and the firewall.

$15 gasket that requires removal of heater box, meaning removal of dashboard.

Are any of your body plugs out of place? Somehow the one in my rear passenger side starting lifting up and the seal started cracking and would cause the floor to get really wet.
