is that a cf hood you have? if not, upgrading to one will save you 20 lbs, upgrading to a fiberglass pinned on one will save you 38. taking out the backseats saves probably 30. search for the e30 weight loss guide, there's a ton of weight that can be removed. there was one guy on here who ran a ~2000lb rally 325i, stripped everything but the lights and the side fenders, and replaced everything else with lighter weight aftermarket or euro parts. aftermarket wheels can save you a lot too.
If I got pins instead of using the current latch system, that would save weight too, RIGHT?!
OMG THATS HOT! :D :giggle:
I guess part of me wants to lose weight, but this is my only car, my daily driver, my road trip car, my track car...everything. So, really, I want to remove the stuff that I can put back in - and will remain in most of the time. But I think I may just pull the tar, and then when autocrossing or going to driving schools, I'll yank the seats and other stuff. But, unfortunately...I just can't justify the cost of a CF or fiberglass hood.
I could just do the no hood mod and call it good. As seen below. :)

yeah, because it's totally cool to drive a stripped down "track" beater on the street.
Trunk tar is 40 lbs, but you're kind of removing weight where you may actually want it.
Factory seats are really heavy. Race seats solve that, but aren't really comfortable for daily use.
Glass is really heavy. Replace you side and rear glass with Plexi. :)
There is a lot of weight that can be removed on these, but do you really want to live with a noisy, vibrating, no-padding seat, no a/c kind of car?
[QUOTE=Sean]I bet 6 4" is a bit tight in the car, eh?[QUOTE]
I don't think that I would be able to do a track day or anything that required a helmet... but I hope to someday find a way to have lower seats. Hints?
yea i kinda felt that way too about the plastics but the ballast inside the plastic bumpers can be removed but at the cost of saftey is it really worth it?... i feel they weigh about the same and if there is any difference its negligable
