Strange Experience Bleeding the Brakes Today

Today I bled the brakes on my 318is in the usual way. Not sure if I should have taken any special steps due to the ABS system, but I just bled it as I would any car.

The weird thing is that the pedal effort was pretty high even with the bleeders cracked open. Also ran into a weird issue on the left rear where after coming back from the auto parts store to get more brake fluid, pumping the pedal didn't move fluid out of the reservoir even with the bleeder open, the pedal just felt normal and I could hear air escaping out of some valve or something in front of the reservoir. Any insight on this? I'm still not entirely happy with the pedal feel, and I'm not really sure whether this is what ABS just feels like or what, but it's not as nice as my 240SX without ABS.

The air you hear is just your brake booster hissing. the fact that nothing is coming out an open bleeder suggests your calipers are crudded up and should probably be rebuilt.

Tested servo and master cylinder today with the pedal tests and they seem to be fine. Going to rebleed the rears sometime and see if that helps. Also kind of thinking that it has something to do with the ABS system.

That caliper looks awful - I rebuilt the front calipers on my Nissan and I'm glad I did.

I had a blocked hose once that prevented bleeding.
