    Double-check my parts list please!

    Hi everyone,

So it's time for a fairly major...freshening for the E30 and I've collected a list of parts. I'm going to replace the clutch, reseal the gearbox, update/improve the shifter, and change the rear main seal. I won't be doing this work myself so I want to make sure I have all the parts right off the bat. If you see anything missing or incorrect, please let me know!

    Clutch
Genuine BMW clutch fork spring, PN 21511204327
FTE hose, master to slave cylinder, PN 21521156673
Fichtel-Sachs clutch kit (pressure plate, clutch disk, TOB), PN KF29603
FTE clutch master cylinder, PN 21521156000
    SKF pilot bearing, PN11211709934
Genuine BMW Pressure Plate Bolt, PN 07119919939 (x6)
FTE clutch slave cylinder, PN 21521157212
Metal clutch pivot pin, PN 21511202659

    Gearbox
CRP Gearbox mount, PN 23711131664 (x2)
Corteco input shaft seal, PN 23121209311
Victor Reinz output shaft seal, PN 23121205340

    Shifter
Garagistic delrin shifter bushing kit (includes PN 25117519669, 25111469397, 25111220707, 25111221849)
E60 Genuine BMW shift lever, PN 25117546373
    Garagistic DSSR

    Misc.
Victor Reinz exhaust manifold gasket, PN 11761711717 (x2)
SKF rear main seal, PN 11142249533
Copper exhaust nuts, PN 18301737774 (x6)

I think I need another rubber mount for the shifter, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which one it is. I think it's a rear carrier bushing?

    Thanks again,

    Mike

If you get the derlin kit. Iirc you remove the rubber from your current carrier and install the derlin bushing in its place. Double check that but thats how it goes i think.

Garagistic said to mount "delrin in the front, rubber in the back." I'm just not 100% on which parts exactly that references.

          Great, thanks!

I just read that the shift detente plate PN 23311228470 can cause leaks. Anyone have experience with this?

I just did a swap and someone wanted my old rewr shift carrier to upgrade the bushing so I think that's how that works. My Sachs clutch kit included a pilot bearing so you may not need one and since I was doing a swap I replaced my throttle cable and all the pedal box bushings.

Lastly I replaced the CSB and Guibo since I was installing a used drive shaft. If you need a Guibo I have a few that I got directly from SGF who makes them for BMW and Lemforder (long story)!so Lmk and I'll hook you up.

The detent plate was the only thing I thought of replacing that I didn't, but turns out the donor was not abused.

Thanks for the info! So did the kit come with a throwout bearing and a pilot bearing? I think my guibo is pretty fresh, but it'll be looked at. Same with the CSB.

And yeah, lots of WYAIT for sure.

So this is a bit embarrassing, but I can't find the lock plate or the gasket on realoem. I don't need the socket as I'm not doing the work, and I assume you mean there's a second gasket for the output shaft splines?

The front seal housing does not use a gasket but instead uses this or similar. https://www.permatex.com/products/ga...-gasket-maker/
It is also placed on the output shaft splines to prevent oil leaking at the output flange. Shops won't have it on hand or know to use it on the splines so you'll end up with a small oil leak a few months later.

Interesting, I haven't heard of that before. Was something like that used from the factory, too?

I've replaced the Trans seals before and they all leaked with the regular elrings. This time I went oem a bit more expensive but no leaks
