    Fuel pump

My car needs the fuel pump to be replaced .im also planning on doing an m50 swap over the winter. Is the fuel pump something i should do before the swap or does it not matter

    it is up to you.
If you have to diagnose start/run problems after your swap, wouldn't it be a benefit if you could rule out the fueling issue that already exists?

That's quite the question to ask if you're planning on undertaking an m50 swap. Best of luck.

      7pilot has a great point.

Do the pump(s) now. A pump failure could leave the car stranded somewhere.

You didn't say what year the car is. If an ETA or early 325is there will be two pumps. A lift pump in the tank and an external high pressure pump. Later cars have only an in-tank high pressure pump. Change the filter when you replace the pump.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
