Help! 318is Gas Tank Lid Not Opening!

    Hi All!

I'm having trouble with my locks and I'm sure it has to do with the Central Locking Unit. I have to manually lock all my doors and trunk -- just started to act weird yesterday. My mechanic is going to help me with the issue but for now, I need to open my gas tank to fill it the car up.

I've changed the fuse to see if this would be the problem but unfortunately it wasn't that.

Is there any way I can open this gas tank door manually? If so, how do I go about doing that?

    Thanks so much!

Can you get inside your boot? if so the solenoid for the fuel cap is behind all the interiour stuff in the boot. I haven't actually removed one but i imagine you can unbolt it and free your petrol cap.

Pull out the trunk liner on the right side-
you'll see the actuator. I think you can just move
it manually, but it's also pretty easy to just remove it entirely.

So I would have to access that thought the trunk and unbolt it? Is there a wire I have to pull?

        Thanks for your quick reply!

          This is what I'm seeing:

What am I pulling or moving around to unlock the door?

You may be able to reach the actuator rod without unbolting anything, or you can unbolt the whole unit.

Then give it a few wiggles, test the locks and see if it functions. It's likely to be gummed up and stuck.
