Temp Gauge and Blower motor both went out at the same time?

Just got everything put back together (primarily suspension). Never touched thebengine or any related parts- i got the car up to temp, everything looked good. Started driving, put the defroster on 2 or 3. After a few minutes, the blower just shuts off. Only works on 4. At that time I also noticed the temp gauge was all the way to the left.

Is this two problems (si board, ground, etc etc) and blower motor?

Or are these two issues somehow connected?
