I've never taken the alternator apart to know. But can you tighten the stud to see if that stops it from spinning? If it's a pressed fit, obviously that wouldn't help, but if it can bottom out you might be able to tighten it up enough that after soaking it in pb blaster the nut would break free without loosening the stud again.

looks like its a solid mounted stud so may need a new alt period

That sounds like it might be crazy enough to work. Also, it sounds like I *may* be able to try that before thursday. So cut a flat head into the end of the bolt, and use a normal wrench to undo it, right? That sounds like it could work
