That wouldn't cause the symptoms your are describing. That wouldn't do anything at all actually...

Any of the above suggestions are a possibility.

            Your description is extremely vague.

heres a list of shit to check

            - Vacuum leaks - 99% of issues with m20 is vac leaks especially idle and dieing at low speed - they just cannot deal with aiir getting in around the MAF - there must be ZERO vac leaks for it to run properly. the smallest of leak has a huge effect on how the engine idles and runs at low throttle.
            - check errror codes in ecu - fix any sensors
            - fuel pressure regulator (unusual to die, but possible)
            - sparking plugs check the gap and condition
-check if IAC is working, give it a good clean with carbon cleaner.
            - Did i mention vacuum leaks?

It would if it was shorting across the battery really quickly. I don't see how it would be repeatable though, you'd think eventually it would arc weld itself to the battery terminals or cause a fire.

Maybe your dme relay is going bad. My car would shut off while driving. It would start up again then turn off. Bought a new one and ot hasnt died since then
