    icv vibrating

went to check my oil and heard something humming, went to the other side of motor and its slightly louder. i get in closer and touch my icv and its vibrating very subtle, i unplug it and it stops. plug it back in and its vibrating. is my icv going back? fyi my cold starts have a rough idle at first start and then smooths out seconds later

The ICV is supposed to buzz/vibrate when it is working. One of the first test to determine if it is working is to turn your key all the way without starting (or you can unplug it) and checking to see if the ICV is buzzing/vibrating. Seems like you have already determined this is working. If it is vibrating then the next question is if it is opening/closing properly.

You can also clean it out similarly to cleaning your AFM with MAF cleaner to make sure the vane is able to move freely.

If it vibrates and the vane moves freely it is working. Perhaps clean both the AFM and the ICV to start.

Also take you intake boot off and inspect it closely especially in between the accordion section. Without taking it off it can be easy to miss that it is cracked somewhere causing a small vacuum leak.

An ICV is just a solenoid valve. very simple mechanical device. but it does move at a high frequency. They stop working properly when they get clogged with carbon build up.

I would always try and clean an ICV before replacing. Let it sit overnight in some brake cleaner to try and get the carbon out of it. that throttle body cleaner stuff is good too (might be the same stuff...)

You can't host videos here, if that's your question. If you want to upload somewhere other than Youtube, you could try Vimeo or Flickr.
