    Let's play the game called, "what's this wire for?"

    Ok, so I'm in the middle of an overhaul and I have a random wire which looks like it goes to no where. I think it got caught in the pulleys at some point in time and got torn apart. It wraps in front of the engine and plugs in under the large diagnostics connector next to the crank position sensor. I tired taking a picture of it but it's blurry, so I'll take a new one when I get home from work, but someone might know what it is for based off this description.

    The car is a 1987 325i with the stock engine and computer/wiring harness

      There are 2 wires that run across th timing cover and are housed in a plastic housing. 1 is the oil level sender and the other should be your cps which does attach to the spot you describe

        It's the one that connects adjacent to the CPS. See pics
