Blower motor doesn't turn off - not the typical no key issue

    1991 318is

Discovered a new, bothersome, issue a few days ago that I can't figure out. I haven't ripped into any of the electrical schematics yet, too damn hot to work on my car outside right now.

When the key is turned to accessory or while the car is running the blower motor never actually shuts off. It runs as if its on speed setting 1, even with the dial on 0. I took fuse 20 out and it stopped running, plugged it back in, and it started spinning again.

I would have never noticed because the air movement is so subtle on that speed, except there is a slight squeak that is driving me insane. Any idea what it could be? I've been reading that sometimes the switches go bad?

yes, I already turned up the radio

Correction.... just looked over the owners manual(page 29). The blower turns on even if at "0" when the a/c button is selected.

Yeah, I don't have the AC button even installed in my car currently, still working on getting the system to hold vacuum (converting to r134a)
