Any Downfall to Bolting an Is lip right to the Valance?

I'm thinking about trying to get a Brand new Is lip soon for my 88 325is. Now about a Month ago I had I pulled out of a gas station and scraped my I lip on the ground due to a large Dip and it flew off about 20min latter and got ran over breaking it in multiple points.
I was thinking as to avoid any damage to an Is lip, How about Bolting it directly to the Valance. There are already holes in the Valance for the spoiler clips so why not just drill maybe 6-8 holes in the Lip spoiler and bolt it right on. I'm sure I'll be scraping an Is lip if I got one and I don't want it flying off.

That's what Jordan did with his Rieger Infinity lip, and I plan to do the same when I get my iS lip. Only drawback is that if you catch it on something, you're going to fuck up
a lot more than just your iS lip.

I don't mind it getting a little fucked, as long as it's still on the car and the pieces are there. With the I lip after I ran overit I went back and was missing about 4-5 inchs of material making it not worth my while to repair.

my lip has survived about 5,000 miles at stock height and 10,000 miles lowered without nailing anything. I'm just careful about parking.

my rieger lip got fucked up because of the sole reason that it was bolted to my valence. I'd use factory clips and some sort of wire to suspend the lip should it become dislodged/unclipped

how do you scrape an "i" lip? how low is your car? there isnt much room to mess with if youre going to bolt them to the valance. I tried with my custom spoiler.

whenever i tap the iS lip i get out and make sure all the snaps are in. bolting it on will likely make it break on impact. the clips will make it get loose and possibly fall off.

if you just "tapped" it and it fell off, you probably have old clips that arent holding on the lip good.

The clips were Old, I could barely squeze a coke can under the lip, I'm always carfull but I was taking my dad to the airport and filled up with gas He saw an Old Alfa pull into the side of the gas station and asked me to drive over to see whatit was. And the exit onthat side Dipped down then back up so the lip scrapped, I should of checked it then but my dad was in a little rush to get to the aiport. Then as soon as I left the Airport off went the Lip. I think If I buy an Is Lip I'll do the Teather suggestion.

I'd laugh to see the Rieger's massive downforce break all the clips at 100mph down the highway and see the wires trying to hold that bitch in place......

valences are more expensive that spoilers, and look funny if you rattle can them black.... use the OEM clips and if you hit soemthing go and make sure it is still clipped in.... if you have to you could use wire..... but just dont hit things and you will be okay

the clips are quite strong, smart ass ;) you'd need a splitter to make any downforce, and even then, it's probably not too much for the clips to handle. (although the splitter makes the car much slower after 120mph)
