Anyone have the E30 to E36 power window switch write-up?

Does anyone still have or know where to find the E36 power window switch retrofit write-up? It was online somewhere, but I can't find it.

I tried to do it once, but I couldn't get the e30 switch apart. Those clip things on the bottom are a bitch and a half.

After an hour or so of playing with various tools, I did get them apart and got the contacts cleaned. I followed the wlak thru on http://bmwe30.net/

I had a switch that had to be pressed down ALL the way to work - fixed it. Just keep working with them though, they come apart eventually.

Yeah, I've gotta push mine down pretty damn hard. I'll give it another go tomorrow; but I'll practice first on some non-illuminated spares I have.

Yeah, all you really need to do is get in there, open them up, and rub them clean. Some contact cleaner would be ideal, but I just sprayed a bunch of WD-40 in there. It seems to be holding up GREAT.

Good luck! If you need any pointers, don't hesitate to ask.

You've gotta get 'em apart if you're going to upgrade, don't ya? :D

Crap, he has a point.

I am actually interested in the E36 switches as well. So, it's all for a good cause, right?

I'll be searching for the walk thru as well. Sorry to high-jack...

No, you put the entire E36 switch in the console in place of E30 one.

but most of the time people do this swap they dont cut the harness, isntead they make an adapter out of the old window switch, which requires taking them apart
;) I've done it before on my old eta, its not hard, lemme see if I still have pictures showing which wires match up
