I've got a pretty tempting deal on some new 195/60/14 Azenis for my baskets, but I don't want to kill myself in heavy rain (read: hydroplaing). The Potenzas on there now have 1 summer left, that's not a factor. Does anyone run the Falkens on the street? How hairy does it get?

Azenis Sport on the street? Should I?

A good friend of mine has the Azenis 195/60s on his 14" basketweaves. He drives his E30 pretty much everyday and did 7 track schools last year. He said he gets about 8K to 9K miles out of a set....and that's factoring in a lot of aggressive driving.
Last Sept. he let me borrow this set of wheels from him for a day when I took a great drive with some BayE30.net guys (logging in close to 300 miles of hard driving on a multitude of twisties). I was impressed with them and will consider them as an option when I'm ready to replace tires.

Yeah, from what I've read they aren't bad at all in the WET, it's just standing water that scares me. That tread pattern isn't very forgiving.
Best choice would be to pick up a cheap set of basketweaves and mount these for auto-x/track, but with 8 wheels/tires already stacked in my garage I have no room.
I'll wait and see what I'm gonna do.

[quote="darien28"]the azenis are currently sold out and on back order indefinetly nationwide. even the US distributor doesn't know when the next run will be quote]
American Tire sayes they have the 14" in stock in Nevada. I just ordered a set. Price went up $10 each from last year. Paid $72 each installed plus the assorted other fees. Should have them in a couple of days so that I can put some break in miles before the next autox.Gary
